Early stage baby toys - stimulate and educate without spending lots
of money
Toys, toys, toys! Never has
there been such a wonderful array of baby toys available to occupy,
delight and educate your little one. In truth, some say children get
too many toys today - and isn’t it strange how they sometimes seem to
find greater enjoyment in the box the toy came in rather than the toy
itself?
Baby toys have been around
for thousands of years - even new mothers in the caves had to occupy
baby so that they could tend to other important business. Ancient baby
toys were made from such weird and wonderful things such as gourds,
rattlers from snakes and nuts. Fast forward to today and baby toys vary
from the traditional – and all-time favorite – stuffed toy, to hi-tech
computerized gizmos.
But how do you choose a baby toy? We have all
experienced the frustration of buying a “great” toy that baby plays with
for 30 minutes or a couple of days, then loses interest. The toy then
gets added to the growing list of discarded items in the big box in the
corner of the nursery.
Baby toys will significantly help to stimulate
healthy early development. But don’t be fooled into thinking that the
most expensive toy is the most useful – watch a child playing with a
plastic cup, a flower or the box the toy came in(!) and realize that
their lives can be enriched by the simplest everyday items around them.
A key issue is safety – always buy baby toys
from reputable companies who you know will comply with all safety
guidelines. Always be wary of buying baby toys from market stalls and
check second-hand toys to ensure that they still work properly, before
giving them to you child.
