Baby monitors - peace of mind while baby sleeps
OK, so baby’s really cute and you love playing with him/her, or watching him/her sleep. Of course you don’t want to be apart for a single minute. Or maybe you’re just really nervous about leaving baby in another room, while you get on with other things.
The answer, of course is a good baby monitor. There is nothing more reassuring than being able to watch or hear your little one wherever you are. By using an audio monitor or camera monitor, you can use baby’s sleep-time wisely to get your chores done. You can organize your life properly – despite the constant demands of the little person who now often seems to be the ONLY thing in your life…
How do monitors work?
Monitors come in 2 parts – one unit that you place close to baby and a second that you keep close to you for monitoring purposes. Audio monitors work through radio waves, picking up the noises baby makes when moving around (some also have motion lights so that you can see movement even with the sound turned down).
Modern monitors are very powerful, with a range of up to 500 metres, giving you extra piece of mind, whatever you are doing while baby sleeps. However, it is advisable to buy monitors with two channels – the pick range could mean that your monitor picks up your neighbor’s baby movements instead of your own!
The cheapest units are the plug-in ones. Obviously though, they are limited in flexibility and are best used if you spend most of your time working in one place, or for night time monitoring.
Battery operated units are much more flexible and either come with plug-in adapters, or rechargeable batteries.
If you really want the ultimate security for your baby, you can choose a camera monitor which provides vision as well as sound, enabling you to watch baby on a small, portable screen. And the added bonus is that, with infrared technology enabling these units to operate in the dark, they can also double as added security for the home!
